Temples Botox in Seoul |
Apgujeong EU:GENES Skin Clinic
The temporalis muscle at the side of your head works hard every time you bite or clench. At Apgujeong EU:GENES Skin Clinic, temples Botox can relax an overactive temporalis for comfort and a softer contour, planned carefully by the doctor.
What is Temples Botox?
The temporalis is a fan-shaped chewing muscle that sits over the temples and above the ears. Along with the masseter at the jaw, it closes the jaw and is heavily involved in clenching and teeth grinding (bruxism).
Temples Botox places botulinum toxin into this muscle. There are two main reasons patients choose it: to ease tension and fatigue from clenching, and to reduce visible bulging at the temples that appears when biting down. It is frequently combined with masseter treatment, because both muscles work together.
Who Is It For?
You may benefit if you:
- Clench or grind your teeth, especially at night
- Feel tightness or aching at the sides of the head
- See your temples bulge when you bite
- Already had masseter Botox but still feel clenching tension
It may not suit you if your temples are already hollow or thin. Relaxing the muscle can reduce its bulk, which may make hollowness more noticeable. In that case, temple filler is a very different treatment that addresses volume, and it carries its own specific vascular risks that require an experienced physician. Temples Botox is also not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with neuromuscular disorders. Headaches that are frequent or severe should be medically assessed.
Benefits
- Less clenching-related tension at the temples
- Reduced temple bulging when biting
- Complements masseter Botox for more complete relief
- Non-surgical, with no downtime for most people
Your Treatment at EU:GENES
At your 1:1 consultation, Dr. Jung Yoo-jin feels the temporalis while you clench, checks temple volume from the front and side, and asks about grinding, jaw pain and headaches. If you already have temple hollowing, she will tell you honestly whether this treatment is a good idea for you.
If appropriate, she personally injects a few points across each temple, avoiding visible vessels. The procedure takes only a few minutes and is often done in the same visit as masseter Botox.
Results & How Long They Last
Tension relief is typically felt within one to two weeks. Changes in muscle bulk, if any, appear gradually over several weeks. For most patients, results last around 3 to 4 months, and repeat treatments may extend the effect.
Downtime, Aftercare & Possible Side Effects
Most people resume daily activities immediately. Avoid massaging the temples, wearing tight headbands or helmets, and intense exercise on the day of treatment.
Possible side effects include tenderness, small bruises and a mild, temporary headache. Some patients notice temporary chewing fatigue with tough foods, especially when the temporalis and masseters are treated together. Increased temple hollowing is the most important cosmetic risk, which is why careful assessment and conservative dosing matter.
FAQ
Is temples Botox the same as temple filler?
No. Botox relaxes the muscle; filler adds volume to hollow temples. They are chosen for opposite concerns.
Will it stop me grinding my teeth?
It can reduce the force and discomfort of grinding, but it does not cure the habit. A night guard from your dentist may still be advised.
Can it help my headaches?
It may ease tension from clenching. For chronic migraine, a dedicated medical assessment is needed.
