What is Perioral Lines Botox?
"Perioral" simply means around the mouth. Perioral lines include fine vertical lines above and below the lips, small creases at the lip corners, and the puckered texture that forms when the mouth tightens. They are caused by the constant movement of the orbicularis oris muscle combined with gradual loss of collagen, sun damage and, for some, smoking.
Perioral lines Botox relaxes the parts of this muscle that crease the skin most. Unlike a single-area treatment, it looks at the whole circle of the mouth so that the upper and lower lip remain in balance.
Who Is It For?
This treatment suits adults with fine, movement-related lines around the lips, especially lines that deepen when pursing or speaking. It works best for early to moderate lines; deeper, static creases generally need a combined approach.
It may not be suitable for:

In your 1:1 consultation, Dr. Jung Yoo-jin studies your mouth while you speak, smile and purse, checking skin thickness, sun damage and the depth of each line. She explains which lines toxin can soften and which may respond better to Rejuran or other skin regenerating treatments.
Dosing is minimal and spread evenly around the lips. Dr. Jung personally performs each injection with an ultra-fine needle, then reviews you at follow-up to fine-tune any asymmetry. The appointment usually takes about 15 minutes including preparation.
Results & How Long They Last
Lines typically begin to soften within 3 to 5 days, with the final result visible at around two weeks. Because we use small doses for safety, results usually last 2 to 3 months for most patients. Combining treatment with collagen-building procedures tends to give a longer-lasting improvement in skin texture.
Downtime, Aftercare & Possible Side Effects
Expect little to no downtime. Keep the area clean, avoid makeup for a few hours, and skip saunas and hard exercise that day.
Possible side effects include tiny bruises, swelling or tenderness. If the effect is stronger than intended, you may temporarily notice difficulty with straws, spitting, whistling, or a slight asymmetry when you smile. These effects fade as the toxin wears off, and careful low dosing makes them uncommon.

How is this different from upper lip lines Botox?
Upper lip lines treatment focuses only on smoker's lines above the lip. Perioral treatment considers the full area, including the lower lip and corners.
Will my lips look bigger?
Not significantly. Some patients notice a slightly softer lip border, but this is not a lip augmentation.
Can I eat and drink normally afterward?
Yes. You can eat and drink as usual on the same day.
