Neck Botox (Nefertiti Lift) in Seoul |
Apgujeong EU:GENES Skin Clinic
Vertical neck bands and a less defined jawline are common signs of aging that skin care alone cannot address. At Apgujeong EU:GENES Skin Clinic, Dr. Jung uses botulinum toxin to relax the neck muscle for a smoother neck and a crisper jawline.
What is neck Botox?
The platysma is a thin, sheet-like muscle that runs from the collarbones up over the jawline. With age, its edges can become visible as vertical cords, called platysmal bands, and its downward pull can blur the jawline.
Neck Botox places small amounts of botulinum toxin along these bands and, in the Nefertiti lift technique, along the lower border of the jaw. Relaxing the downward pull softens the bands and lets the lifting muscles of the face work a little better, which can give a cleaner jaw contour.
Who is it for?
It suits people with visible neck bands, especially when they talk or tense the neck, and those with mild loss of jawline definition who still have reasonable skin firmness.
Neck Botox will not treat loose, sagging skin, excess fat under the chin, or horizontal "necklace" lines on its own. For those concerns, skin-tightening options such as HIFU or Thermage, or surgery in advanced cases, may be more effective. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for people with neuromuscular disorders or swallowing problems, with infection in the area, or with a botulinum toxin allergy.
Benefits
- Softens vertical neck bands
- Can subtly sharpen the jawline
- A non-surgical option for early neck aging
- Works well alongside skin-tightening treatments
- Minimal downtime
Your treatment at EU:GENES
The neck is an area where honest assessment matters. In your 1:1 consultation, Dr. Jung Yoo-jin asks you to tense your neck and grimace so the bands show clearly, and she looks at your skin quality, jawline and profile from several angles. If Botox is not the best tool for your concern, she will tell you and suggest alternatives.
If you are a good candidate, she marks each band and the jawline points and injects them herself with a fine needle. Doses are spread out and kept superficial, because the muscles for swallowing and neck movement lie deeper.
Results & how long they last
You will usually notice the bands softening within one to two weeks. The full result appears at about two weeks and typically lasts three to four months. The change is subtle: a smoother neck and a slightly more defined jaw, rather than a surgical lift.
Downtime, aftercare & possible side effects
There is little downtime. Small bumps and pinpoint redness usually fade within an hour or two, and bruising is possible. Avoid massaging the neck, lying flat for four hours, intense exercise, saunas and alcohol on the day of treatment.
Because the neck contains important deeper muscles, the risks are specific. If the product spreads or the dose is too high, patients may experience neck weakness, difficulty swallowing, or a hoarse voice. These are uncommon with careful, superficial technique, but they are why neck Botox should only be done by an experienced physician. Please contact us or seek medical care right away if you notice trouble swallowing or breathing.
FAQ
What is a Nefertiti lift?
It is a neck Botox technique named after the Egyptian queen, known for her elegant jawline. It treats the platysma along the jaw and neck to reduce downward pull.
Will it help my double chin?
No. Neck Botox works on muscle, not fat. A double chin needs a different approach.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. Many patients pair it with skin-tightening or skin-quality treatments for better overall neck results.
