Glabellar Lines Botox in Seoul |  Apgujeong EU:GENES Skin Clinic

The vertical '11' lines between your eyebrows can make you look stern or stressed, even when you are not. At Apgujeong EU:GENES Skin Clinic, we soften these frown lines with precise botulinum toxin injections that keep your face open and relaxed.

What is glabellar lines Botox?

The glabella is the smooth area between your eyebrows. When you frown or concentrate, two small muscle groups, the corrugators and the procerus, pull the brows together and down. This creates vertical "11" lines and sometimes a horizontal crease across the top of the nose.

Glabellar lines were the first cosmetic use of botulinum toxin approved by the US FDA, and it remains one of the most studied treatments in aesthetic medicine. Relaxing these muscles softens the lines and eases the habit of frowning.

Who is it for?

This treatment suits adults who have frown lines when they concentrate, or lines that remain when the face is at rest. It is also popular with people who are told they look angry or tired when they feel fine.

It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for people with neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis, with skin infection in the area, or with a known allergy to botulinum toxin. If your frown lines are very deep and etched into the skin, Botox may soften but not fully erase them. Filler in the glabella is sometimes considered for deep lines, but this is a higher-risk area for vascular complications, so Botox is usually the first choice.

Your treatment at EU:GENES

Dr. Jung Yoo-jin meets you for a 1:1 consultation first. She asks you to frown, squint and relax so she can see how strong your muscles are and exactly where your lines form. Frown patterns vary a lot between people, and a map that fits your muscles gives more natural results than a standard template.

Dr. Jung then performs the injections herself, typically in a few minutes. Because the glabella and forehead work together, she may suggest treating both for a balanced look, and she keeps doses measured to avoid a heavy or surprised appearance.

Results & how long they last

Frown lines usually begin to soften within 3 to 5 days, and the full effect appears at around two weeks. For most patients, results last three to four months. The glabellar muscles can be strong, so some people, especially men, need a slightly higher dose to get the desired result.

Downtime, aftercare & possible side effects

Most patients return to normal activities straight away. Keep upright for four hours, do not massage the area, and skip hard exercise, saunas and alcohol for the rest of the day.

Common, mild side effects include redness, small bumps, bruising and a light headache. A less common but important risk is temporary eyelid drooping (ptosis), which happens if the product spreads toward the muscle that lifts the eyelid. It is rare with careful technique and usually resolves within a few weeks. Tell us straight away if you notice anything unusual.

FAQ

Is Botox or filler better for "11" lines?

For most people, Botox is the first choice because it addresses the muscle that causes the lines. Filler in this area carries a higher risk of vascular occlusion and should only be done by an experienced physician after careful assessment.

Can I still show emotion?

Yes. The aim is to reduce heavy frowning, not all expression. You will still be able to look surprised, smile and communicate naturally.

How often should I repeat it?

Many patients return every three to five months. Over time, some find they can space treatments further apart.
